Puppy Love and Hard Stuff
The early years, beyond childhood, began with watercolor to clear my head during spaces between my writing.
Dying Katie-O’Riley. My dogs have always been a source of inspiration. This early work was done on a piece of paper no larger than 3 x 4 inches. Only REAL artists deserved to work on large paper.
In the Bramble Tree I was working through childhood issues. I felt small and alone, caught in my past.
Footprints is another watercolor exploring my childhood. A shadowing figure lurks in the dark. Small footprints try to run away.
Spirit Dog was done as I was mourning the death of our Irish Setter Katie. I’m guessing that these small pieces were done in the early 1980’s.
